    What research says

I don't have kids, but if I did I'd buy them one of these things. Then they can ride right beside daddy on his blue Raptor 660.

The new 250 version of Yamaha's famed Raptor series is super light, especially when compared to their heavy big brothers.

Dirtwheels Magazine had a few photos of a grown man getting this bike way off the ground and spinning it around all over the place. You'd think he'd be bored on such a small bike, but it looks like he's having the time of his life.

The Raptor 250 is a very compact powerhouse that is great for the kids who already have some riding experience. I wouldn't put a ten-year-old on this bike though if he'd never ridden before. A kid's first quad shouldn't be able to do wheelies in second gear or get a 180-pound man five feet off the ground.

If the little tike is going to be jumping this fourwheeler, we advise tightening up the front suspension. It's pretty soft out of the box.

    Don says:

In my opinion this is the best 4-wheeler in the 250cc racing class. I think the Yamaha 250 will last a beginner or a child a long time. Let them ride it stock for a couple of years, then just when they're starting to get bored throw on a new exhaust, jet it, lose a tooth on the sprocket and it will probably be a whole new ride for them.

    Review Page

Yamaha's new Raptor 250 is one mean little baby bird that knows how to fly right out of the nest. For those of you who aren't into metaphors: The 2008 250cc Raptor goes fast for such a small, completely stock engine.
